Charities House

We are delighted to report that our vision to create a ‘community under one roof’, to house and support a number of local charities and not for profit organisations, is taking shape. We have spent years searching for suitable office space and have now managed to secure the freehold of two adjacent offices in Walton. Over time, as work progresses on these buildings, they will provide us with offices and also space for training; client interviews; charity meetings; and incubator space for start up community groups. We are gradually making changes to the two new buildings and moving the charities we house in so that we are all co-located in ‘Charities House’.

Our ‘community under one roof’ is in response to the increasing number of charities and not for profit organisations that have approached us, after struggling to find suitable, affordable and long term office accommodation. Small charities are unable to pay high commercial rents and accommodation available is often unsuitable or on short term leases. Frequent moves provide no stability and are costly, disruptive and time consuming. Walton Charity is committed to help these charities and not for profit organisations as they deliver vital services to some of the most vulnerable people in Elmbridge.

Walton Charity commissioned independent research to find out what difference co-locating is making to our partner charities. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and here are some of the comments received:
