About us

Walton Charity is an amalgamation of 11 charities, the oldest of which dates back to before 1212. The Charity works in the ‘Ancient Parish of Walton’ to provide almshouses, allotments and grants and relief for those in need. The Charity works principally in the Ancient Parish of Walton on Thames, including Walton, Hersham and Oatlands. Some of the Charity’s services benefits are available to individuals from Elmbridge and the wider community.

Walton on Thames Charity seeks to ensure that it makes a real difference to its beneficiaries and makes a positive impact on people’s lives. The Charity aims to retain the spirit of the original charities whilst working to ensure that it is relevant today and in the future. The Charity is rightly proud of its long and varied history, and is committed to ensuring it is able to respond to the changing needs of the local community for many centuries to come.

The Charity’s current activities fall into three broad areas:
