Future Planning

Walton-on-Thames Charity is undergoing a period of modernisation and re-focusing. We are looking at how we can translate our history to best meet the needs of local people both now and in the future.

The local area is an interesting mixture of considerable wealth and affluence with pockets of deep deprivation. Equally, the Charity has substantial community-based resources that are currently not being utilized to their full potential.

Over the coming years the Charity will be working with local partners with the support of Government funding (through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership) and CASS Business School at City University to meet some of the challenges below:

  • To stop spending more to do less and focus on maximising the Charity’s resources for maximum benefits or impact for the local community.
  • To engage with the whole population and understand how relative poverty impacts potential users.
  • To address the current limited focus in order to keep pace with emerging local needs.
  • To make a step change in external engagement and attain the intelligence to develop plans to ensure that Walton Charity fulfils its mission.
  • To realign resources to meet the needs of increasingly diverse local people with a range of needs.
  • To rejuvenate its strategy, to reposition Walton Charity as an effective and viable local charity.
  • To become increasingly innovative and proactive so we can develop enterprise in new areas.

Walton-on-Thames Charity works to fulfill its strategic and operational plans which are agreed trustees who review progress and prioritize activity.
