Walton-on-Thames CharityWalton-on-Thames Charity provides housing for older persons, either in our two schemes at Mayfield and Fenner House, or for those needing care at Sherwood House, our registered care home.
The Charity owns two sheltered housing (almshouse) schemes. Between them there are a total of 96 flats. The schemes are staffed by a Schemes Manager and two wardens.
Staff are on duty for seven days a week between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Staff contact each resident daily. If help is needed in an emergency, each flat has an emergency pull cord fitted that will allow the resident to contact our staff. During the hours when staff are not on duty, the call will be answered by the Charity’s central control facility. Whoever answers the call will be in a position to deal with an emergency.
In both our schemes there are active social clubs that are supported by our staff. As a resident you can choose what activities you want to participate in.
We provide a minibus service which takes residents to the shopping centers at Walton, Hersham and Brooklands and in addition is used for social outings.
From time to time residents may need a little extra help perhaps with laundry or getting dressed. The Charity has a visiting care assistant who can give this help on a short term basis.
We value the views of our residents and we have arrangements for residents to be consulted and for residents to bring to the Charity’s attention any matters of comment or concern.
Sherwood House is our registered residential care home for frail elderly residents. It provides 30 en-suite rooms plus an additional respite room for short stays. Full care is provided including all meals, room cleaning, laundry and personal care.
We offer organized activities and our mini bus is available for residents wishing to visit the local day centers and for social trips.
We pride ourselves on our service to residents and we aim to offer the highest standards of care in a comfortable and stimulating environment.
