Walton-on-Thames CharityWe aim to promote and improve the welfare of anyone in need in Walton-on-Thames, Hersham and Oatlands. We offer a wide variety of services.
Walton on Thames Charity provides housing for older persons, either in independent living sheltered housing flats in our two schemes at Mayfield and Fenner House or for those needing care, at Sherwood House, our registered care home.
The Charity owns two sheltered housing (almshouse) schemes. Between them there is a total of 96 flats. The schemes are staffed by a schemes manager and two wardens who report to the Charity's Housing Manager.
Staff are on duty for seven days a week between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Staff contact each resident daily. If help is needed in an emergency each flat has emergency pull cords fitted that will allow the resident to contact the staff on duty. During the hours when staff are not on duty the call will be answered by the Charity‘s central control facility. Whoever answers the call will be in a position to deal with an emergency should it arise.
In both our schemes residents run active social clubs that are supported by our staff and as a resident you can take as much or a little part in these activities as you choose.
There is a minibus service taking residents to the shopping centres at Walton and Hersham and in addition used for social outings.
From time to time residents may need a little extra help perhaps with laundry or getting dressed. The Charity has a visiting care assistant who can give this help on a short term basis.
We value the views of our residents and so at both Mayfield and Fenner House there is an elected panel of residents who meet regularly with the Housing Manager and Schemes Manager to discuss any issues of concern. In addition residents’ representatives meet with Trustees from time to time. All residents are invited annually to a meeting which Trustees and senior officers of the Charity attend, where residents can air their views about the service they receive.
Sherwood House is our registered residential care home for frail elderly residents. It provides 30 en-suite rooms plus an additional respite room for short stays. Full care is provided including all meals, room cleaning, laundry and personal care.
We offer organised activities and our mini bus is available for residents wishing to visit the local day centres.
We pride ourselves on our service to residents and we aim to offer the highest standards of care in a comfortable and stimulating environment.
