Mary Frances Trust, one of the twenty nine local groups who applied to share the £31,000  Partnership Fund, are delighted to report that their project to reduce social isolation by providing Elmbridge residents with free transport to Walton Excel Leisure Centre is proving very popular with their service users.

The Partnership Fund was set by Elmbridge Borough Council, Elmbridge Community Fund and Walton Charity to support isolated members of our community and in addition to the contribution to the £31,000 fund, Walton Charity offered a further £18,000 of funding to a number of these projects, one of which was the Mary Frances Trust.

Each week, for a period of eight weeks, a mini bus will run to Walton’s Excel Leisure Centre so people can swim, play badminton or take part in any other exercise activities on offer. The weekly outing is designed to support those who are socially isolated and have mental health issues, and the free travel has encouraged participants to improve social networks and give them the confidence to feel part of the Elmbridge community by allowing them access to new physical activities.
