The Big Soup Share

On RHS’s annual Big Soup Share, we had two great sessions making soup with vegetables grown at our Community Allotment. Generous tenants from our allotment sites also donated their vegetables. Our Community Allotment volunteers had fun making the different flavoured soups and our sheltered residents enjoyed tasting them.

Three Local Food Banks Prepare for Universal Credit Roll out

Walton Charity recently helped organise a meeting between representatives of the three Trussell Trust Foodbanks in Elmbridge together with local DWP staff to prepare for the rollout of Universal Credit, which is due to happen in November.

Community Allotment Volunteers Give Back

Our Community Allotment project has been lucky to have had so much support from many people over the past two years, as we transformed a derelict area of the allotment site into a tranquil haven. So it was a great opportunity to give back and help someone else with a transformation. Thank you to all who came to help with the garden make over at the Caterpillar Pre-school on the St John’s Estate. The garden will be enjoyed by the Caterpillar’s children and other children's groups.

The Earl of Wessex Meets Young Trainees at a Local Bike Project Supported by Walton Charity

Walton Charity has provided a three year Community Grant, totalling £45,000, to part fund the extension of the Guildford Bike Project into Walton to meet the learning and skills needs of disadvantaged young and adult unemployed people in the area.

Another great example of a community working together. Our Strawberry Shard, made by Men in Sheds from recycled pallets, planted up by Year 5's from Walton Oak school with strawberry plants donated by Garsons Farm Esher. Thank you all.
