Walton Charity manages 2 sheltered housing schemes designed for older people - Fenner House and Mayfield. Sheltered housing offers the benefit of independent living, but without the various worries that most homeowners or private tenants face. The flats are suitable for both single occupants and couples.
Fenner House and Mayfield are staffed by Schemes Managers, one of whom will visit each resident daily, unless this is not desired or needed. The staff will also provide advice and assistance on a range of topics including welfare benefits. Our support services are tailored to residents’ individual needs and adjusted as those needs change.
Each flat is fitted with a call system for use when the Schemes Managers are on duty and which also acts as the door entry system at all times. Flats are completely self-contained, but there are communal facilities available for residents’ use. These include beautiful landscaped gardens, a communal lounge, kitchen and laundry facilities. Both schemes also have a hairdressing room for visiting hairdressers.
In both our schemes there are active social clubs that are supported by our staff. As a resident, you can choose what activities you want to participate in. We recognise that everyone’s needs and interests vary so whilst we encourage residents to take part in social activities, there is no pressure to do so.We provide a minibus service which residents can use to visit various local shopping centres and which is also used for social outings.
In most cases, prospective residents should currently live in the Ancient Parish and be over 60 years of age. Occasionally we can make exceptions for people with special circumstances. Applications are welcomed from those in receipt of Housing Benefit and/or other Welfare Benefits, as well as those who have the means to pay.
