At Christmas, we reflect on how important it is to look after one another.
But for many in Elmbridge, Christmas makes a hard time even harder. Christmas may be a reminder that Santa can’t give your child what they asked for; it may be the time when you feel the lack of a support network most keenly.
Walton Charity wants to help. Our Pantry at the Bridge, originally set up in 2023, supports working families in Elmbridge struggling with the cost of living. Through our membership model, families pay £10 per visit to our shop, receiving items such as food and toiletries valued around £40. They also access advice from onsite specialists, alongside peer support from other Pantry members.
In-work poverty is a growing problem in Elmbridge, and our way of supporting families values their dignity, and gives them choice. This Christmas, give a gift that can make a real difference, all year round.

The Bridge, is our community space offering a warm welcome to Elmbridge working families who are struggling with the rising cost of living. We’re here for those who are not eligible for government support and are falling through the cracks.

Rachel’s story
Like many working families in Elmbridge, Rachel found herself facing a series of difficult and unexpected circumstances that affected her financial circumstances, making it harder to make ends meet for her and her 5 year old. A referral to The Bridge offered dignity, a sense of community, and most importantly, hope for the future.
